Food Tour Guide & Business Development Manager – Whistler Village

Whistler Food Tours was created to showcase the best of the vibrant West Coast food scene, including the food and culture of our aboriginal people and local artisan favourites. Owned and operated by a true culinary enthusiast and previous award-winning chef, Whistler Food Tours aims to support local businesses, promote Whistler as one of the best culinary destinations in the world and bring people together through the fusion of food, culture, history and beautiful landscapes. We are currently looking for a proven leader to help take WFT to the next level. Taking on tour management and driving growth through partnerships with the local community, this is a diverse and challenging role for the right person looking to take on a tourism challenge.

Location:            Whistler, BC

Schedule:             Full-time, flexible schedule generally Wednesday through Sunday in Whistler. Possible to be based in Vancouver or Squamish and commute.

This is a multi-faceted position, in which the ideal candidate must be outgoing and friendly, passionate about local food, history, and meeting a wide array of people. The best-suited individual has exceptional time management, superb interpersonal skills, experience cultivating business relationships, and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful marketing campaigns. Interested candidates must also have a flexible schedule.

Objectives & Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead public and private group tours to diverse audiences.
  • Maintain a timed tour schedule and navigate to pre-determined tour venues.
  • Enthusiastically engage guests in their tastings, local history and culture to create distinct and memorable experiences.
  • Provide world-class customer support.
  • Create and implement strategic print and digital marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and sales.
  • Oversee and participate in the design of content for visual communications.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local hotels, tourism boards, and restaurant vendors.
  • Engage in local events, conferences and tradeshows to create a presence for Whistler Food Tours in the local community.
  • Optimize and manage social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) by creating and editing content to grow engagement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • College or University degree in Communications, Tourism, Business or Marketing, OR equivalent work experience in a tourism / tour operator environment.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, problem solve and take initiative to make sound decisions.
  • Experience managing email and print marketing campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for Whistler, food, drink and history.
  • High level of comfort and familiarity with today’s leading technologies.
  • Possess problem solving skills and be able to work with little supervision.
  • Bilingual French / English / Spanish is a huge advantage.

Compensation:

For the right candidate, a base salary plus commission and full benefits / stock options are available. Details negotiable based on experience.
